YouTube VS Google Video

MULTIMEDIA REVIEW
This is an individual assignment 1. Write an review of article related to Multimedia.

Based on article entitled “10 reasons why YouTube is better than Google Video” wrote by Ben McConnel on March 06, 2006, it can be seen that the author prefers Youtube compared to Google Video.

Susan (March 19,2006) also agreed that the interactive YouTube video is better than Google Video. Both of the authors were giving their point of view and the reasons of why they choose the YouTube video.

Ben McConnel (2006) claim that YouTube was constructed with a community in mind. Google Video claimed was very far within the YouTube Video in letting the community of user connect. YouTube Video’s interface tools, such as tagging, a rating system, comments, friends, favorite, friends’ favorite, and etc go far are very authentic prove of why the YouTube was being preferred by the users instead of Google Video. Google Video also can’t even beat the user interface of YouTube one, where was greatly better than Google Video. Using YouTube Video is easier and and more attractive, compared to the Google Video’s user interface which is claimed as too simple and it makes the video to be unattractive.

YouTube is also being preferred by most of the user because of its viral functions. As instance, “share this video” and “tell a friend” functions are automatically added at the end of each video, making each video simple to be shared with other viewers, contrary with the Google Video’s function which are more complicated. The most preffered thing of using YouTube is where the users can directly play the video they wish from their own blog or website. Moreover, the YouTube video always load and play faster than Google Video, and its been approved by the author experiment on two different computers in multiple locations.

For the next reason why the author preferred using YouTube is because of its display the number of times each video has been played. That’s a data point of pride for uploaders. Google Video most likely compiles that data but does not display it. Data transparency is helpful for both content creators and viewers.

YouTube’s user account system also more secure. It is also easier to use YouTube and filled it with more data than Google's. Its functionality is greatly better than Google Video. Compared to Google Video which just can be searched by date and title, YouTube can sort search returns by date added, title, view count and rating. YouTube display three random images from each video for search returns. That makes it considerably easier for users to find specific video files from large batches of results. Google Video just displays the first frame of each video file.

The author also preferred YouTube because the display track backs to each video otherwise Google video does not. YouTube's functionality there makes it easier to discover who the more influential virus-spreaders are. YouTube also helps user find the obvious related video. It’s a great tools for users trying to build video evidence related to a subject. For instance, go to the comments of this video to see the “related video” functionality.

It was supported by Susan (2006), that Google does stomp YouTube in two important areas; downloadable videos and seller accounts. For those who create multimedia presentations, a downloadable video is a big differentiator. If an Internet connection isn't available, good luck showing or sharing a YouTube video, while for content creators who see online video distribution as a major new sales channel, Google Video makes it pretty easy to disintermediate a realm of resellers.

But for now, YouTube easily trumps Google. YouTube has considered designed itself to be one of the more significant contributors to the growth of an online product. It intends to enable a community of users to create content around content.

It can be concluded that the YouTube Video was preferred by most the users by its interactive characteristics instead of Google Video which not fulfill the users expectations. I am totally agreed with both of the author that the YouTube is better than Google Video. YouTube video absolutely meets my interest as well as my need in using their services.
